The book is dedicated to the first tool of a man who came from the depths of centuries - a knife. In Africa, America, Asia, Europe and Oceania - everywhere he was an assistant to people not only in economic activities and military exploits, but also an obligatory participant in mystical and sacred rites. From time immemorial, for many peoples, a knife was almost the main thing of a man, a sign of his honor and valor. But consciously or unconsciously, every man today, holding a knife in his hands, whose shape has been forged for centuries, feels its magical power.
The first chapter tells about the variety of knife shapes on the example of Russian museum collections. It presents both well-known and rare knives and daggers, previously not mentioned anywhere in the literature. The second chapter is devoted to modern knife art in many aspects of using a knife.
The book is written by famous authors, curators of museum collections, historians and is intended for a wide range of readers.
