The badge is composite, made of an alloy of yellow metal, presumably tompak, covered with silver. The shape of the badge is an equilateral Teutonic cross, hot enamel of dark blue color is placed on the rays . In the center there is a round medallion in a gilded wreath of oak leaves with a background of black enamel. At the bottom of the medallion is a stylized coat of arms of Finland in the form of a red shield with a lion, above it are the national flags of Finland (left) and Germany (right). The dates “1941-42”are indicated between the flagpoles. At the bottom of the semicircle is written the name of the award in two languages – "Pohjoisrintama “(in Finnish) and” Die Nordfront" (in German). Between the rays of the cross there are fragments of a silver-colored Finnish swastika, on each of which the names of the combat areas are written in capital letters: Salla( Salla), Kiestinki (Kestenga), Uhtua (Ukhta, or Kalevala), Petsamo (Petsamo, or Pechenga).
The mount is a screw with a twist, the manufacturer's brand is placed on the twist.
